RNLI Annual Report

This project involved designing a 6-page editorial spread for the RNLI’s Annual Report & Accounts. The goal was to present key organisational achievements and statistics in a way that was engaging, clear, and aligned with RNLI’s brand identity. The main challenge was balancing large amounts of data-heavy content with engaging visuals and clear hierarchy to make the information digestible for stakeholders.

Project Type: Editorial Design
My Role: Graphic Designer
Tools: Figma, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator

I started by sketching out some wireframes to get an idea of the layout of the magazine. I then created some low-fidelity wireframes on Figma, developed a clean grid system to ensure consistency, and started adding in the copy provided, and playing around with the layout. I selected a strong sans-serif for headlines paired with a legible serif for body text to enhance readability. I then worked on incorporating RNLI’s brand colours, imagery, and created some graphics to break up the large amounts of text.

The final spread combines a bold colour scheme with carefully thought out layout to guide the reader through the information. I also used bold images to humanise RNLI’s work and occasional graphics to break up long text. This project demonstrated how strategic layout and clear information design can transform an annual report from dense to engaging. The design makes key organisational achievements stand out while maintaining a professional tone suitable for RNLI stakeholders.
