Bud & Sprout

Bud & Sprout is a seasonal plant subscription service who were looking for a new logo and brand identity to use across their online presence and physical products. The goal of this project was to deliver a consistent brand identity that conveys the high-quality products the brand sells and appeals to an audience of busy people looking for a convenient way to get into gardening.

I began by researching direct competitors and other subscription-based companies and developed mood boards with some of the elements I liked from other brands, as well as inspirations from nature. The goal was to position Bud & Sprout as approachable for novice gardeners yet still convey the quality and sustainability of the products. After exploring different logo options, I settled on a simple but effective wordmark with motif that could be adapted for both online use and on physical products. The design of the logo, along with the typography and colour palette I chose reflect the organic and sustainable feel of the brand.

This project highlighted the importance of building a flexible brand system. The final design feels rooted in nature, complimented by the earthy colour scheme and organic feeling logo, whilst the incorporation of a deep rich green elevates the brand, giving it a premium edge. I produced a brand style guide to assist in applying the branding to its different uses and gave an idea of what it could look like in practice through mock-ups.
